Sea Lions

This dive was incredible. I was able to swim with the sea lions and see them up close. They were super playful and would give light nudges and bites when they swam by. Inside a cave we entered, the sea lions would show their curiosity by biting peoples regulators and fins. They also really enjoyed the bubbles of air that would pass up and out of our regulators. During a lot of the dive, we were surrounded by fish that would quickly swim away when the sea lions came close. The day was sunny, and the lighting was perfect for great pictures with lots of exposure. The water was very clear and allowed some great quality photos to be taken. Overall, this is the highlight of my project, and it was amazing to be able to combine three of my favorite things together; Scuba diving, Photography, and Sea Lions.

This was a dive where I swam through a shipwreck, seeing sea turtles, debris, and other fish. The ship was sunken on purpose, as a way to help grow more corals and replenish the damaged underwater ecosystem that used to live there. The ship is home to about 3-5 sea turtles that find food, and shelter around it. The vision and water conditions were a little rough because of wind and currents, but I enjoyed this dive and all of its beauty.

Shipwreck Diving

Open-Water Dives

These photos are from two different dives, and include lots of different fish, and even a sunken structure with the purpose of helping replenish coral in that area. There are also a few pictures with other divers too. The sunlight really helped give these photos a vibrant color with plenty of detail. While there was some wind, there was a little bit of waves and debris in the water making visibility not perfect, but still really amazing. These dives were super flexible and allowed me to take lots of pictures, and just have fun.

More Info

  • The Camera Used

The camera I used for my project was the GoPro Hero 10 Black, with 3 different filters. The Light red filter for shallow water, The Red filter for some average diving depths, and the magenta filer for the deepest dives. I also had a water sealed case so the go pro could stay protected past 30 feet in depth.

  • My Advanced Open Water Certificate

The certification was very fun, and taught me a lot more about diving. With specifics, the required dived I did were peak performance buoyancy, deep dive, and underwater navigation. For my two elected dives, I chose shipwreck diving and drift diving. Im so excited to continue to advance my skills in diving.

  • The Dive Shop

The dive shop I dove out of was right off the coast of La Paz, Mexico, and was really helpful in my efforts to attain my advanced open water license. They also provided al lot of the necessary equipment for the dives, including my BCD, my regulator, my octopus, my fins, and my wetsuit.
